Meet Our Engineers

Serge Henderson – Being the son of a DJ, house engineer Serge Henderson has been open to many different genres of music his entire life. His parents reared him on everything from Reggae, 80’s Rock to Disco. As Serge matured, he fell in love with other genres as well. Those genres, including Hip-Hop and Jazz, helped mold his palette and prepare him for the work he does today. Because of his musical experience, Serge has a broad appreciation of music and a unique approach to each artist he collaborates with.

In 2012, Serge began honing his skills as an engineer. He feels right at home as an audio engineer and offers services in Recording, Mixing, Mastering, and Production. Cumulatively over the years, he has worked on thousands of songs with over 500 artists, in over 1500 sessions, collaborating with a variety of artists, from Hip-Hop battle rapper DNA to the Harlem Gospel Choir. He’s well equipped to take care of your audio needs!

His credits include Delfonics, Sharla Keys, DNA, Pickings (film, winner of the IndieFest Film Awards – Best Feature Film, Sunnyside Up Film Festival – Best Feature Film & MidWest WeirdFest – Best Feature Film), Harlem Gospel Choir and so much more.

Eric Basta is an Audio Engineer/Music Producer from Baltimore, MD. Growing up in a musical family, Eric has always had a deep interest in music and how it is created. He first began experimenting with recording at age 12 on a 4 track cassette recorder. As he got older, Eric switched to the computer and delved deeper into music production and mixing. Throughout this process he developed a love for working on many genres, especially hip hop, soul, rock and jazz.

In 2021, Eric moved to New York to continue to pursue engineering and joined the Funkadelic team in 2023.

Reviews

As a producer, I make every effort to bring my clients to Funkadelic, both for rehearsals and for studio recording sessions. It is an oasis of high-quality rooms and backlines in the very heart of Times Square. I’ve also brought my 3-HOUR SINGLES series to Funkadelic alongside resident studio engineer Serge Henderson, who is a phenomenal producer and mixer with attention to details and a true understanding of his console.

I really enjoyed my session with Funkadelic Sound Engineer Eric. He was extremely patient, respectful and efficient, and also open to suggestions about adjusting the equipment to suit the needs of the instruments in the session. He was really good about planning the session, reaching out to me and asking me what I needed beforehand, such as the stems for the sessions, the technical set-up, and what kind of a sound I was going for. Most of it was already set up when I got there. He is also incredibly nice and good at making people feel comfortable. I would definitely go back for another recording session again and recommend Funkadelic Studios to other musicians in NYC!
