Q: What is your cancellation and payment policy?
A: A 50% deposit is required to secure all bookings.

Studio 1 and Studio 10 require a minimum of 5 days’ notice to cancel a booking and receive a refund.
Studios 2–9 require a minimum of 2 days’ notice to cancel a booking and receive a refund.

If a booking is canceled inside the required cancellation notice period:

  • The 50% deposit is non-refundable and will be forfeited, and

  • The client is still responsible for payment of the remaining 50% balance, resulting in 100% payment for the booked session.

All no-shows will be charged 100% of the session fee.

Bookings made inside the cancellation notice period require payment in full at the time of booking.

We recommend leaving a Floating Deposit of $100. Funkadelic will hold this deposit for future bookings, allowing you to reserve sessions easily. You may request the return of your floating deposit at any time.

Q: How many people can Studio 1 accommodate? 
A: Up to 20 people.

Q: How do I park around Funkadelic?
A: Please see the embedded parking map on our Directions & Parking page or visit www.smoothparking.com. These maps show available parking in the area in real time.

Q: Can we bring food or drink into the studio?
A: Beverages and snacks are permitted, but hot food is not allowed. We have a beverage vending machine available for your convenience. We kindly ask that you keep food and drinks off the equipment and clean up any trash before you leave.

Q: Can we smoke in the studio? 
A: No. Smoking inside any building in New York City is against the law, as stated by the FDNY. This includes vaporizers and e-cigarettes. Violators may be subject to fines. 

Q: Can we rent instruments for use in the studio? 
A: Yes. Please see our front desk for information on renting guitars, basses, etc. 

Q: Can we play music from a phone through the studio PA system? 
A: Yes. Each studio is equipped with a Bluetooth option and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Q: Can I record my rehearsal?
A: Yes. Recording a rehearsal costs an additional $40/session. We use the DN-300R MKII, which records to both SD and USB media simultaneously. Utilizing Dual Mono or Dual Stereo modes, the ability to record a second mono or stereo file at -10dB on the same media is supported – even when recording to both SD and USB at the same time.

Q: Do you have acoustic pianos?
A: Yes, we have 1 upright piano in Studio 6.

Q: Are scooters, bicycles or hand trucks allowed in the studio?
A
: Any item used for transportation of people or heavy gear will not be permitted inside the studios. There is an unsecured storage area provided. We prefer they are not brought to the 5th floor.
